FAQ
-
Most tax preparers focus only on filing returns. We focus on the bigger picture. As both a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), I combine tax and investment expertise to help clients make intelligent financial decisions.
-
We prepare individual tax returns for clients across the country, but the most meaningful results come when tax and financial planning work together. Year-round planning is the bridge between tax preparation and wealth management, and this is where clients see the greatest value. When we manage both sides, we can optimize not just your tax outcome but your overall long-term financial plan.
-
Yes. Through IronFjord Wealth Management, an independent fiduciary financial planning and investment firm, I offer investment management and financial planning built around your tax strategy. We use low-cost, research-based index funds to grow wealth efficiently while minimizing taxes. For retirees, this often includes coordinating Roth conversions, Social Security timing, and investment withdrawals to help reduce taxes and enhance your portfolio.
-
We work with a wide range of individuals and families, including:
Retirees and pre-retirees managing investment income and distributions
High-income professionals aiming to lower lifetime taxes
Long-term investors who value coordination between their tax and investment strategies
Families looking for clarity and structure around complex finances
We welcome anyone who wants to make informed, more coordinated financial decisions.

Tax preparation fees are flat-rate, based on return complexity, typically between $350 and $895 for individuals. For clients who also engage IronFjord Wealth Management, financial planning and investment management are fully integrated so we can optimize both sides of your balance sheet, what you earn and what you keep. There are no commissions, product sales, or hidden fees. Tax preparation discounts are available for clients of IronFjord Wealth Management.
-
Yes. Clients can work with us just for tax preparation. We are happy to collaborate with your advisor if you wish. However, clients often decide to consolidate with us once they see how much simpler and more effective it is to have tax, investment, and planning decisions fully aligned under one fiduciary relationship. We often find clients are working with advisors who are not fiduciaries and are not offering holistic planning services. IronFjord Wealth Management is always happy to take a look at your planning and investments and offer a second opinion.
-
The best time is as soon as possible. The most effective tax savings can often happen before December 31, not in April. When we also handle your financial planning, we can identify opportunities for Roth conversions, charitable giving, and investment withdrawals ahead of time. Proactive coordination helps retirees manage future tax brackets and preserve more wealth long term. If you have equity compensation, it is important to plan early.
-
You can start by scheduling a an introductory calle. We will review your situation, identify opportunities, and explain how a coordinated approach between tax preparation, planning, and investment management can make your financial life easier and more efficient.
-
Investment decisions always have tax consequences. As both a CFA® and EA, I bridge the gap between the two worlds. We help clients minimize capital gains, design tax-efficient portfolios, and plan withdrawals strategically. The goal is to keep more of your investment returns working for you, not lost to unnecessary taxes.
-
Yes. We can work with clients who prefer to manage their own financial planning and investments. If you enjoy handling your portfolio, we can focus on your tax preparation and make sure your investment activity is reflected accurately and efficiently on your return. Our goal is to help you make smarter, more tax-aware decisions. Some clients eventually choose to have us manage both taxes and investments for a more coordinated approach, but that choice is always completely up to you.
